Tutors, trained by Literacy Volunteers of Rochester (LVR) in methods of guiding learners in language development, meet with small groups as follows:

Focus on "survival English": vocabulary, pronunciation and listening skills needed for shopping, banking, transportation and other daily activities.
Stepping into English Conversation
Build your vocabulary & improve your pronunciation. Enjoy conversations! Topics are chosen by participants to help them meet their goals.
Digging Deeper
What is behind all those idioms? Discover American Cultural Values through 100+ common sayings! Share your cultural values and proverbs too!
Writing
Personal review and assistance with the writing of research papers or other documents may be arranged with experienced tutors.

Preparing for Citizenship
Tutors with books, CDs and videos are ready to assist anyone preparing for US citizenship.
During the summer months, English Conversation Nights will be held on June 12 and 26, July 17 and August 14 and 28, 2008. Come enjoy a casual time of conversation about topics of interest to you. For other opportunities throughout the summer months, see Special Events. Weekly English Conversation Groups will begin again on September 11, 2008.
